  1. Non-Agentic Workflows – These are traditional automation processes that follow a fixed, rule-based sequence without adapting or improving on their own. Non-agentic workflows perform tasks efficiently but lack reasoning or self-correction. E.g. Email auto-responding system can be considered a type of non-agentic workflow. 
  1. Agentic Workflows – Unlike rigid automation, these AI-driven workflows can reflect on their output, make adjustments, and refine their results, much like how humans review and improve their work. E.g. Coding assistants like GitHub Copilot suggest better code based on context.
  1. Fully Autonomous AI Agents – This is probably the pinnacle of AI development. These systems make independent decisions and manage complex tasks without any human intervention at all. We don’t yet have fully autonomous AI agents, as most still need human oversight or fail-safes.
